I know that the above statement is totally contrary to what we have been taught about greatness, many of our church leaders turned motivational preachers have told us that our Dreams matter in life more than any other thing. We have been driven to be self-centered and selfish in our thinking and disposition to the detriment of our manifestation.
We have to understand the ‘ways’ of God and His ‘thoughts’ for us to effectively walk with Him. This is one of the most inspiring thoughts that I’ve found out in scriptures about God and Man. The truth is that His ‘ways’ are really different from our ways because His ‘thoughts’ are totally different from our thoughts. The Lord revealed this truth to Isaiah the Prophet,
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” – Isaiah 55:8-9.
One of the ways of God that I discovered is that Your Dreams do not matter that much and our liftings are always connected to ‘helping’ someone else fulfil his dreams. He has deliberately planned and connected our lifting to someone else, which means once you are self-centered, you may not be lifted.
Let me share some of the major promotions and liftings in the Bible with you and show you this scriptural principle and divine secret…
4 TIMES PEOPLE HAVE BEEN LIFTED BY HELPING OTHERS
- JOSEPH GOT PROMOTED WHEN HE HELPED PHARAOH: Though Joseph had dreams when he was younger but they were not fulfilled until he helped a fellow prisoner and Pharaoh interpret their dreams. His liftings were connected to another man’s dream not his own, so his dreams did not really matter but other people’s dreams. Help someone today!
- DANIEL’S DREAMS WERE INTERPRETATION OF NEBUCHADNEZZAR’S DREAMS: I am sure you recall that Daniel was exalted after he Interpreted the king’s dream not when he dreamt on his own. His dreams were connected to the king’s dreams and his promotion was linked to the solution to another man’s problem. Be a solution today and be lifted!
- RUTH WAS THINKING OF BOAZ AND NOT HERSELF: Ruth was a woman devoted to helping people and in fact that got her to the enviable position of being married to a very wealthy man called Boaz after her husband died. This widow was so committed to being there for others that she did not have any personal dream outside the aspirations of others. She helped her mother-in-law, stood by her kinsman redeemer and became the wife of the same wealthy man.
- JOHN THE BAPTIST WAS COMMITTED TO HELPING JESUS: The biggest prophet from the Old Testament wasn’t Elijah or Isaiah but John the Baptist. Though he baptized many people, he is remembered for one major baptism, that of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. We should be committed to showing someone else even if it means that we are forgotten and not remembered. Serving is a calling and we should embrace it with joy, it is not your dreams that matter but His dreams for you.
Whose dreams are you working to accomplish today? That may in itself be your pathway to greatness without you knowing. Believers should be committed to helping others and not just living self-centered lives; remember what Paul said to the Philippians, “Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others” – Philippians 2 v 4.
