INSPIRE TODAY with Rev. Yomi Kasali

I am sorry for abandoning my lovely readers over the last few months, my inconsistencies have been of great concern to me, and feel very bad for those who look forward to my articles every Monday for Inspiration. We shall get better by His grace.

Let me Inspire you today on the Subject that is killing the church and believers, the subject of Celebrity Status conferred on Preachers by followers and believers. This is killing us and is totally antithetical to scriptural values and spiritual dictates. I truly doubt that the Holy Spirit will breathe the desire to embrace such status on any Servant of His, who walks daily with Him.

I ran into a scripture that strengthened my conviction and I will love you to meditate on the passage yourself when you are in one of your quiet moments alone with the Holy Spirit. Paul when downloading God’s mind to the Galatian Church on the battle between the Spirit and the Flesh admonished the believers to shun Vain-Glory because it has the capacity to activate carnality, competition, and envy within the Body.

‘Let us not be desirous of Vain Glory, provoking one another, envying one another’ (Gal. 5 v 26).

The scripture above is not difficult to understand at all, it simply derides the unholy desire for fame, glamour, popularity, and celebrity status that seems to have obsessed many of us preachers today (including me). There is a demon that has taken our souls over with the passion for ‘followers’ to the extent that we are ready to lie, buy, deceive, and do some unimaginable things for what some people and NOT the bible calls success.

I will simply put out this passage in 5 other simper English translations hoping to Inspire you with the Thoughts of God on Vain Glory and Fame.

  1. Then We Won’t Need To Look For Honours and Popularity, Which Leads to Jealousy and Hard Feelings (Living Bible)

  1. Let us not become vainglorious and self-conceited, competitive, challenging, and provoking and irritating to one another, envying and being jealous of one another (Amplified Bible)

  1. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original (The Message Bible)

  1. Let us not be full of self-glory, making one another angry, having envy of one another (Bible in Basic English)

  1. But don’t be conceited or making others jealous by claiming to be better than they are (Contemporary English Version)

I hope the above translations of the passage are clear about Celebrity Status, it’s from hell and killing the Body. No one is better than the other, it’s Christ that gave Man gifts and graces, so all glory must belong to God not Man.
