INSPIRE TODAY with Rev. Yomi Kasali

Today, I’ll like to share my thoughts on the virtues of Doves, so that we can learn from this lovely bird of the air. There are many things that Doves are known for and one of the most important things is its ‘harmlessness’ (Luke 10 v 19), but, I shall hopefully reveal another today.

The Dove was the symbol used to describe the Holy Spirit in the Bible during the Jordan baptism of our Lord and Saviour by John the Baptist in Matt. 3 v 16 and Luke 3 v 22. The Presence and Anointing of God upon Jesus was manifested in the bodily form of a Dove on Him followed up with a voice from heaven affirming the Lord as His Son.

The President of Nigeria has been pressured in my opinion to partially relax the lockdown from this week to allow people pursue their means of livelihoods while the Covid19 Pandemic Curve hasn’t flattened yet, but rather is rising aggressively in our land without any solution in sight to fix it. That decision is not wise in my opinion but right when you consider the hunger in the Land and the restlessness of the poorest of the poor also.

Let me share what the Dove did during the first major crisis on earth in the Bible and learn from the wisdom of the Dove, and act like Noah without being in a rush or hurry to move out of the Ark.
‘And he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters abated from off the face of the ground; but the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth then he put forth his hand and took her and pulled her in unto him unto the ark. He stayed yet another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark and the dove came in to him in the evening and lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth and stayed yet another seven days, and sent forth the dove which returned not again unto him anymore. (Gen 8 v 8-12)

The following facts are to be noted from the passage above
The Waters had abated or the pandemic curve had flattened in the Land.
The Dove was sent out and it came back twice.
The dove brought back proof of fruitfulness in the land after the flood (crisis) had subsided
Noah didn’t step out until days after the dove didn’t come back

The above facts should Inspire you all today unto wise and safe actions in the next few days. The facts below should guide your steps and actions as the Leadership of the Nation and some States relax the lockdown rules and allow people move around in search of their daily bread. Please, be wise and act safe like Noah the Patriarch with the following steps;

THREE (3) STEPS TO TAKE TOWARDS SAFETY IN THE FOLLOWING DAYS
LET THE DOVE GUIDE YOU: I want you to personally depend on the Holy Spirit to guide and order your steps in the coming days with respect to going out fully or partially.
THE OLIVE LEAF ISN’T ENOUGH TO GO OUT: The proof of life out there shouldn’t be enough to make you decide to leave your safe havens in lockdown. Noah saw the Olive leaf (proof of life and fruitfulness) that the dove brought back yet he didn’t leave the ark for another 7 days.
THE 14 DAYS RULE WAS OBSERVED: Noah observed his 14 days rule of waiting after the waters had abated. Meaning; days after the flood (crisis) had stopped, He didn’t just jump out of the ark but stayed for days even after he saw proof from the dove and until the dove went round the whole world and left the ark.

Please, act wise and be safe in the coming days. This pandemic will be around for some time, hence do the following intentionally;
Wear face masks always outside
Maintain social distancing
Avoid social gatherings and crowded places
Spend less time outside, stay in the Ark
Maintain personal hygiene always by washing your hands.
